The abundant waterfalls and caves are spread across the island of Bohol, including the beautiful Mag-Aso falls in Antequera. Mag-Aso in English word means “smoke” in the native tongue. The water is fresh, cool and often generates a mist in moist mornings which can hide the falls. HINAGDANAN CAVEThe hinagdanan Cave is located in Panglao Island, Dauis, Bohol about 9 kilometers from Tagbilaran City. Hinagdanan in English word means "laddered". It is a naturally lightened cave with a deep lagoon and many large stalactites and stalagmites. The cave leads to a huge underground grotto that contains a pool. The underground nature pool is a popular for swimming. TARSIERThe Philippine Tarsier is the smallest primate in the world to be found only in Bohol. Tarsiers are small and weigh only about 110 to 145 grams or 4 to 5 ounces. Tarsiers have noticeably gigantic eyes, they are nocturnal and arboreal. They have extended legs and anklebones which are well modified for leaping from stem to stem. They hunt at night exclusively for insect prey and their diet consists of live animal prey such as insects, crickets, cockroaches, grasshoppers and small lizards. Tarsiers can turn their head 180 degrees in either direction. MAN-MADE FORESTThis is to be found at the northeast portion of the town. Experience the coolness of the gentle wind that is safe from pollution. It has the healthy effect that soothes weary souls. |
